Checklist for Software Engineer in India

- Confirm scope of work and deliverables in writing
- Set communication cadence and tooling (Slack, email, async docs)

- Collect signed Form W-8BEN (foreign individual) or W-8BEN-E (foreign entity)
- Confirm contractor is properly registered as a business / sole proprietor in India
- Verify local tax residency and any treaty benefits
- Document misclassification risk review for India
- Provision least-privilege access to source code, data, and customer info
- Require MFA on all company accounts
- Sign data processing addendum if PII is handled
